Facelift surgery is fast becoming one of the most popular procedures requested of plastic surgeons. Dr. Mendieta's extensive training in facial analysis under world leaders in facial rejuvenation makes him one of a very few surgeons to incorporate traditional approaches with unique techniques to avoid that obvious post-facelift windblown look, repositioned hairline and earlobes. He has perfected a two-layered technique that places tension on the bottom tissue layers allowing a more gentle re-draping of the skin thus creating a more natural, youthful appearance.
Many areas of the face are improved: sagging, loose tissues of the mid-face, deep folds of loose skin at the sides of the nose and mouth, jowls or loss of definition of the jaw line, and excess fat or loose skin causing loss of definition and "hanging"? of the tissues in the neck area.
Dr. Mendieta will discuss your areas of concern during the consultation and demonstrate the degree of correction you may be able to achieve in each area. A facelift does not stop the clock. It simply "resets" it. How long a facelift lasts depends on many factors including the inherent characteristics of your tissues. Also, people tend to age in "spurts" (look at Presidents before and after serving). If you are in, or entering, an aging cycle, your facelift will not last as long as someone who is not in such a cycle. You'll notice some loosening within a few months following a facelift, but you may never regain the degree of your original aged appearance. On average, patients may request a less extensive tightening procedure in 7-10 years to maintain the best possible appearance.
A Facelift is often combined with other procedures for simultaneous correction of other areas of the face such as the forehead or eyelid regions. This gives you a balanced, more youthful appearance of the entire face.
The Brow can be lifted resulting in a more youth-full awake look, while at the same time removing the forehead and frown wrinkles rejuvenating the entire forehead.
Upper or lower eyelid surgery traditionally involves removal of protruding fat that causes dark circles and puffy bags under the eyes. Although this improves appearances it still leaves a sunken-in look and prominent bony rim. Dr. Mendieta instead, lifts the cheeks redraping the fat, restoring the lower eyelid to a smoother, more youthful, refreshed appearance.
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, creates open, larger, brighter appearing eyes. By removing excess or loose skin and fatty tissues which produce bags around your upper or lower lids, your eyes can appear larger, less tired, more open, and brighter.
In women, excess loose tissue prevents optimal use of makeup and obscures the normal contours of the eyelid. In both women and men, loose, sagging, bulging tissues make your eyes appear smaller and look tired or stressed.
The goal of eyelid surgery is to produce a significant improvement in eyelid appearance with the utmost safety.
Protruding ears can be a source of social embarrassment. We can easily correct this problem through performing an incision behind the ears and creating a more aesthetically pleasing look.
The procedure to reduce excessive ear prominence or reshape portions of the ear is called otoplasty. Excessive prominence or deformities of the ear can detract from the overall aesthetic balance of the face and severely restrict hairstyle options.
Excessive prominence of the ears or other undesirable shape characteristics usually occurs during ear development, or occasionally with growth.
Otoplasty procedures reshape deformities of the cartilage framework of the ear where deformities exist, re-drape the skin over the re-shaped framework, and position the ear in a more pleasing balance with the head and face.
If the earlobes are excessively large, they can also be corrected during otoplasty.
Rhinoplasty is surgery on the nose that greatly improves a person's appearance by correcting a wide or crooked nose, removing unwanted bumps and refining the nose shape.
The nose is a very important central feature of the face. In both front and profile views, nasal characteristics affect the overall balance and aesthetic appeal of the entire face.
Rhinoplasty is one of the most exacting procedures in plastic surgery because very small changes can significantly alter the appearance. Careful evaluation, planning, and surgical precision are critically important. Overly operated noses appear unattractive and unnatural.
To preserve your individuality and maintain the uniqueness of your nose, Dr. Mendieta will spend a lot of time with you discussing your desires and explaining how the changes you desire will affect other features of your nose and face. By changing only the negative features and carefully preserving your positive characteristics, your nose will blend more aesthetically with your face and not appear overly operated.
In general, features of the nose should blend in a pleasing fashion with other facial structures. Overly prominent regions of the nose such as a large hump or an excessively round or bulbous tip, detract from a pleasing balance, and can be improved by Rhinoplasty.

Cheeks, if properly diagnosed enhance the facial skeletal structure, while improving facial proportions.
Chin implants, Chin deformities cause an imbalance with other facial features. The most common chin deformity is inadequate projection or a "weak" chin. Sometimes the height of the chin in a vertical direction may be inadequate or excessive, producing an imbalance with other facial proportions.
